Acted as a mechanical assistant, assisted mechanical team in various mechanical tasks. Student was allowed where possible to help with installations and take notes. Staff gave explanations and the student was allowed to take measurements.

Observed staff perform drilling, milling, machining, and injection moulding operations. Student was allowed to demonstrate their knowledge of SolidWorks was shown how a CAD model is used for milling and machining. Interacted with industrial machinery such as hydraulic presses, wire cutter, drilling machines, milling machines and lathes. Observed the manufacturing process of plastic goods from creation to packaging.

Worked in 4 major departments over a 4-week period. The departments were the: Cutting Department, Bending Press Department, Wire Cutting Department and Powder Coating Department. The student observed how sheet metal is delivered to the cutting department. The student was allowed to operate certain machines under strict supervision. Where possible, the student was given a detailed explanation and demonstration of how the machinery is operated. The student was allowed to help the workers load the machines and help them to hold the metal sheets in place to get the best bending angle. The student was shown the full powder coating process. The process moves from the degrader, acid tank and rinsers to powder coating and ovens. The student was allowed to view each step of the process and ask questions.
