Work & Experience
My experiences covered a variety of legal activities within the conveyancing department of the firm. I attended court to file documents and observe proceedings, engaged in conveyancing tasks that included drafting transfer documents, and conducted legal research to assist in resolving a dispute. I also requested and submitted documents at the Master’s Office.
While shadowing Neil Knight, the Director of TNK Inc, I gained vital insight into conveyancing, as well as wills and estates, when spending time at both of the firm’s branches. Throughout my time at the firm I sat in on meetings and got to engage with the firm’s lawyers on a one-on-one basis. This was an incredibly informative experience which provided me with a newfound knowledge of an area of law I had limited prior exposure to.
Throughout this program I received exposure to all the firm’s areas of expertise whilst visiting their three branches. In doing so, I was able to engage with and learn from the Directors in charge of each department. This ultimately entailed an incredibly beneficial learning experience which enabled me to further develop my legal skills whilst engaging with like-minded people who share a passion for the law.
Serving on this committee has allowed me to refine my editing, proofreading and error detection skills. This has benefitted my legal studies as I have improved the way in which I engage with legal texts, while getting to interact with a passionate group of law students. I have also been afforded opportunities to express my creative side by creating promotional posts and running an Instagram account for the Journal.
