Research project titled ' Droplet digital PCR and Next generation sequencing in breastmilk of HIV positive women on antiretroviral treatment'. Passed with distinction and graduating in March/April 2025.
Work & Experience
• Preparing blood plasma samples for SMRT-UMI Viral Sequencing (PacBio) of SARS-COV-2. Involved in laboratory work involving RNA extraction, cDNA synthesis, indexing PCR, Blue Pippin purification, beads purification and gel electrophoresis (2024- Present). • Managing freezer operations by relocating samples from an old freezer to a new one. Experienced in sample organizing and tracking utilizing LIMS (2024- Present) and involved in creating a clone repository.
Assisted groups of 7 undergraduate students (second-year study) in a course on Infectious Diseases and Immunology (PTY2001S) at the UCT Health Sciences Faculty.
Supported practical classes of 60-70 undergraduate students (first to third -year study) for the department of Human Biology at the UCT Health Sciences Faculty.
