As a Junior Fund Accountant, you will play a crucial role in supporting fund administration and operational activities. You will have the opportunity to learn and develop your skills while working closely with experienced professionals in the industry. Your responsibilities will include acclimating to the office environment, building relationships with peers, and gaining technical knowledge of fund administration processes and systems.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Adapt to office policies and procedures.
- Train and collaborate with colleagues and interns.
- Expand professional networks within the office.
- Create a personal development plan with guidance from a fund controller/mentor.
- Acquire knowledge of venture capital and private equity industry practices.
- Understand the significance of limited partnership agreements (LPA) in fund administration.
- Familiarize yourself with fund operations, including cash/banking processes.
- Navigate the systems to access relevant data.
- Calculate capital call and distribution allocations.
- Monitor and reconcile capital call and distribution wires.
- Prepare capital call and distribution notices.
- Record general ledger (GL) entries and perform management fee calculations.
- Calculate fund performance metrics as requested.
- Ensure the accuracy of financial statements.
- Utilize software systems and Excel for client reporting and analysis.
- Assist with client onboarding/migration to reporting databases.
- Assist with audit confirmations and provide documentation.
- Participate in financial statement footnotes and expense calculations.
Requirements:
- BCom Accounting or Finance / Bachelor of Accounting / Honours in Accounting
- Article clerks who want to enter the Fund Management space will also be taken into consideration
- At least 1 year of relevant accounting or fund administration experience
- Develop time management and prioritization skills.
